My research interests center on intercultural communication, diasporic identity, and the use of visual design as an arts-based research method. I am especially interested in how invisible cultural systems—such as language, ritual, etiquette, and social expectation—shape everyday experiences of belonging, misunderstanding, and connection. Through typography, interaction design, storytelling, and participatory visual methods, I want to explore how design can make these systems visible and create more accessible forms of dialogue across cultural difference. This interest also connects closely to my work as an Environmental Health designer, where I collaborate on translating complex community-based research and public health data into visual and digital forms. In both areas, I am concerned with how design can help people understand difficult or overlooked realities, whether those involve cross-cultural experience or environmental inequity, and how creative research can support more inclusive, human-centered forms of communication.
