Maria del Mar Navarro '23

Maria del Mar Navarro graduated in 2023 with a Ph.D. in Applied Intercultural Arts Research. Her dissertation was entitled, "Mapping Isotype: A Systematic Review of Studies Conducted on Pictorial Statistics 1920s to Present".
 

María del Mar Navarro is currently Associate Professor in The Design School at the Herberger Institute for Design, and Ph.D. Fellow at The University of Arizona. Maria has taught visual communication design practice, research, history, and theory in higher education nationally and internationally for over a decade. Her research focuses on current and historical practices of data visualization and pictographic numeracy pre-nineteenth century, and the theoretical underpinnings of communicating with pictograms.
